Inflorescence IV
2011 | for Two flutes
This piece was originally intended for a dance performance. Its melodic material is closely related to that of a twentieth century popular tune (whose name I do not know), along with its descending minor-scale accompaniment. The instruments interlace tightly in an off-kilter, looping dance, ever revisiting the same material but never able to “relive” it in the same way.
